The Eyes of your home

You may have eye issues and not even know it!!

It has always been said that the windows are the eyes of your home. They are what allow you to bring in natural light and see what Mother Nature has to offer each day. If you are like most people, the “eyes” of your home probably aren’t in the best shape. Maybe the frames are rotting if you have wooden windows, or if you have old aluminum windows your seals may be failing resulting in foggy panes, or “cloudy” glass. This may not seem like a big deal, but take a look at a few reasons why you should open your eyes to the real problems that could be existing.

If you have ever had something in your eye, then you try to get it out immediately! Your eye can not perform efficiently if there is an obstruction in it. Think of your rotting frames and failing seals as a sort of “obstruction” in the efficiency of your windows. What are the windows there for? To keep the heat in your home in the winter, and keep the heat out in the summer. If you have foggy glass or a small draft then you are letting money fly out of the window! A draft as small as 1/16th of an inch between the sash and the frame of your window can let in as much air as a brick sized hole in your wall…let me repeat…a BRICK SIZED HOLE. Foggy glass is just as bad. Your windows are filled with a gas, probably argon. The reason for this is because gas is much denser than air, therefore slowing the transfer of hot or cold air in to your home. If your glass is foggy, then most if not all of your insulating gas has escaped, leaving you with nothing but two wafer thin pieces of glass between you and the nasty elements of the outdoors.
