To earn the BBB Torch Awards for Ethics, we had to be nominated and then provide examples and documentation exhibiting that we operate with integrity and are considered to be positive, ethical, honest, reliable, and responsive by both customers and vendors alike.
Additionally, we filled out an extensive application so that we could be properly vetted by the judges. In this application, we showcased some of our business ethics in action. For example, nearly a decade ago, a customer had us build a sunroom on a new deck they had installed by a separate company. We obtained the proper permits, installed the sunroom, and completed proper inspections of the new enclosure we built. Years down the road, our client sold their property to a family who ended up contacting us, as they were concerned that the sunroom we built was falling apart. We conducted a thorough investigation and discovered that the issue was with the deck, not the sunroom. The original contractor who built the deck did not build it on correct footings. Although we had no legal responsibility for the damage and frustrations the new homeowners were facing, we knew we had to step up and help this family. We rebuilt the deck and footer at an extremely large cost to our company. While we didn’t earn a profit on that project, we were able to do the right thing and help a family take care of what could have been a very dangerous situation.
